The Cabinets

The Sunn 4x12 is loaded with a combination of Celestion Creamback M65 and H75 speakers. The pairing gives the Dirty Shirley a great balance of woody midrange, weight, clarity and punch, while still retaining the amp's open British character.

The ported Genz Benz 2x12 combines a Celestion Creamback with a Greenback. The ported enclosure adds punch and low-end dimension, while the mixed speakers bring warmth, grind and classic British texture.

The two cabinet setups offer noticeably different flavors of the Dirty Shirley, giving you more than simply alternate versions of the same cab and speaker combination.

The Sound

DShirl delivers chewy British crunch, thick harmonically rich mids, punchy low end and a lively, organic feel.

At moderate gain settings, the amp stays open and articulate with excellent pick response and guitar-volume cleanup. Push it harder and it develops a thicker, more vocal character that's equally comfortable handling hard-rock rhythm tones or smooth, sustaining leads.

The full DI captures give you even more flexibility, allowing you to bypass my cabinet choices entirely and pair the Dirty Shirley with your own favorite Cortex cabinets and IRs.
